Dr. Rice received his medical degree from Loma Linda University in Southern California. He then completed an internship in general surgery and specialty surgical training in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children’s Hospital. Dr. Rice went on to complete advanced training in cosmetic surgery with an emphasis in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Institute of Facial Plastic Surgery. He is double board certified through the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and he is a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.  He has completed additional training courses in body contouring, tumnescent liposuction, advanced laser technologies, breast enhancement, and the treatment of leg veins and has done thousands of cases since starting his practice in 1996. He has also done visiting fellowships with some of the premier cosmetic surgeons in the country studying under and operating with  Robert Shumway, MD,  Mitchel Goldman, MD, J. Dan Metcalf, MD and Angelo Cuzalina, MD. Dr. Rice feels that as a physician in a field with rapid and innovative progress, and with continuous advancements in techniques and technology, it is imperative to be methodical in maintaining education and being continually open-minded to progress in the care of his patients. He has continued his medical and surgical education throughout his career and is always offering  new and innovative procedures or services to his patients but only after extensive research and study proves their effectiveness. “It is critical to me that I am not subjecting my patients to therapies that are not of proven value or, that a few months or years down the road are linked to problems or delayed complications”.

Dr. Rice has also been involved in research developing advances in the field of facial plastic surgery. In 1993, he was privileged to win an award for his research with children who suffer from craniofacial anomalies.
